Oh, I wish students remembered that professors don't like the first day of classes after a holiday either. It might just make things go by a little bit easier.
How was everyone's holiday?
Warded to Lisa Finnigan:
How'd the lecture go today? Lots of giggles and red faces?
Warded to Parvati Patil:
Don't be mad at me. I invited Simon over last week to have a look at the area. He was thinking of moving to Wales, and I wanted to show him the area I live in because it's adorable and relaxing. Nothing happened.
Warded Private:
Simon popped by last week, and it was... Well, honestly, it was a little awkward. At least at first. I think Puck could smell the moon on him or something, because he kept pawing at his lap and demanding to be pet. Even when I tossed him outside, he made it back inside through the cat flap before I was even back. The tour went all right... at least until he made some comment about how these towel racks were sturdier than the last ones. I had to leave the bathroom at that because I thought my face might burn off.
Being near him (as friends! as only friends!) is nice, though. I won't lie. I've really missed him.

[Apr. 7th, 2009|08:56 am] |
Do you ever have those days where someone asks you a question, and you just pop off the first thing before you've even thought? I'm having one of those days. One of my students, Tony, came up to me this morning and tried to tell me that a dragon burnt his homework, and I snorted at him. Well, it was more of a, "An imaginary dragon flamed your imaginary homework, I take it." He just stared at me.
My head would like to say hello to my desk. So utterly ridiculous. Thank Merlin I have a planning period coming up soon. I feel like I should take a power nap in the lounge. |

| 16. Feeling a Little Like Alice. |
[Apr. 1st, 2009|09:57 am] |
All right. Very funny. But now I feel like Alice after discovering and drinking the bottle on the table. For the record, I do not recommend drinking or eating anything that just suddenly appears on any table. My desk and chair is enormous, and I already felt short enough as it is.
That and I really don't fancy meeting smoking caterpillar, having a Caucus-Race, or attend a Mad Tea Party. Oh, and I really rather like my head where it is. |

I think I'm catching the flu. I'm just been so lethargic and achy all day. I think I need to go soak in a long, hot bubble bath. |

When is Easter holidays again? I think I might take a holiday of some sort. I haven't really thought about it.
Warded to Parvati:
Do you have some time this week for your pathetic and lonely sister? I'm feeling a little disconnected from people lately, and you're the first one on my list for re-connects.

I'm completely stealing from Lisa. Actually, she twisted my arm and made me write this entry. It hurt. Badly.
The way the game goes is that you reply to this entry with three things that you associate with me. They can be something completely obvious (India) or off the wall (I don't even have a suggestion for this!). Then I'll reply, with an explanation for each!
Oh yes, and now I'm twisting your arm. You have to post this in your journal. |

Edward, I'm terrible, terrible sorry about the chanting. Patrick is a little... out of control with the rivalry. I'm sure they don't mean the things they say.
When are Easter hols again?
Warded Private:
The full moon is tonight. It's probably ridiculous that I want to bring Si him a Headache Potion and one of those frou-frou coffees he used to drink. I don't even know if he still drinks those.
This is stupid. I'm shutting this now.

I'm actually surprised that I haven't come down with the flu like everyone else. My immune system isn't usually this strong, but I'll take what I can get. Seems the older students aren't quite as bad off as the younger, the poor dears.
Warded to Hermione:
Just as a precaution, I know that we only have a certain amount of substitutes on hand, and if needed, I can volunteer to combine classes over the next few weeks.

No longer blue, fortunately. After finally figuring out what happened -- pronunciation, intent, and fear played huge factors -- it appeared to be of no use. The spell ended up having to fade on its own because of said intent. I do apologise for all of those who turned blue. I hope it didn't cause you too much of an inconvenience.
Apparently, there are rumours Dan Withers proposed to Laura Snell at the Valentine's Dance. Has anyone confirmed this? Should we be prepared for a rash of sudden engagements, like the Bitty Mates?
Warded Private:
I feel like I should warn her, that it'll never last. He'll change, turn on her, and leave her completely out of the blue with no warning whatsoever. One moment, he'll tell her he loves her, the next, he'll ask why she's still there. Then 8 years later, he'll turn up at her birthda
It's slightly possible that I'm projecting. And turning into a crazy cat lady.
And OH DEAR MERLIN. Aren't I supposed to see those star wars films at Nico's tonight? Bollocks!

Argh!
I'm going mental trying to figure out what spell Jamison Ryan botched. It backfired on him, and now he's blue, I'm blue, and apparently, Ms Sanchez is blue as well. I know that blue is my favourite colour and all but
I'm really, very sorry about this. Anyone else affected by this, please reply here so I know who to find if when I figure out a way to reverse it. |

I found this on the floor after my seventh year class left today. Er -- Any ideas on what it is? I don't know if I should be more concerned about the collar and chain around her neck (and its obvious misogyny) or the fact that she's wearing so little clothes.

Ergh. Twenty-nine, and the only thing I have to show for it is a career I love, and a whatever-he-was who dumped me four days before my birthday and on Valentine's Day.
This week sucks. Here's hoping that Friday is much better.

You know how cats get into those really playful moods where they run around like mad things? Their eyes are wide and dilated, they dart this way and that. Climb the walls, latch onto curtains, knock things over.
And it's always, always at night. Either when you're about to lie down or when you've been staring at the ceiling and just about to doze off.
Puck is not getting any treats for this tomorrow.
Warded to Parvati, Su, Lisa, Mandy, and Daphne:
Simon Capper shows up now all of a sudden? Really? My life is an abyss. First that stupid git reporter/writer/whatever he was starts asking me questions about my relationship with him, and now this?
Also, why hasn't Oliver asked me out again?

[Jan. 29th, 2009|02:15 pm] |
You know what I really hate? When you wake up and thinks it's a completely different day. No matter if it's Monday, and you thought it was Sunday. Or if it's Saturday, and you woke up early because you thought it was Friday.
I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday. Come to find out, it's only Thursday. Even worse? I have been feeling a day ahead all week, so my lesson plans are all scrambled up because of it, so now I have to figure out what to do tomorrow because I gave the test for today yesterday.
I suppose I could get a jump on the next lesson, but I want to make certain they actually get this one. Perhaps some sort of game? Something that'll be fun for a Friday, but still educational. I'll have to look into this. Anyone have any suggestions? |

Warded to Parvati and Adrian:
Adrian, do you think I could pop over this weekend to start the planning for the Valentine's Day festivities? And if so, Parvati, do you want to go out to tea or shopping Saturday? I mean, we can go even if Adrian is busy, but not if you're busy together. I don't want to walk in on that. Ever. Again.

| 1. Trappings & Gatherings |
[Jan. 13th, 2009|11:03 am] |
My cat, Puck, apparently became stuck some time during the night. Somehow, he managed to open one of my dresser drawers, climb up into it, push out the bottom drawer and hid back there. The problem, of course, didn't come from that; it was when I closed the top drawer to get an item out of the bottom, therefore trapping him. It wasn't until after I had my shower that I realised I hadn't seen him all morning, and then the meow started. Any of you who have been to my flat know just how pitiful a sound Puck's meow is. For those of you who don't, his vocal chords were permanently damaged when I found him as a kitten, and his meow sounds like an old wheezing man. I pulled him out -- after some manoeuvring -- and gave him a cuddle, but he scared me for a moment there.
Warded to the RLA Faculty & Staff:
I've been thinking about starting a book club for the faculty and staff. Most of us read so much for our classes that I thought it might be nice to read a little for ourselves. I'm not sure if anyone is actually interested in this, but I thought maybe the last Wednesday of the month would be a good time for it. We could hold it in the school's library (if Hermione would permit) or at one of our houses, rotating. There's also the option of going to a coffee shop or a restaurant, but those wouldn't allow us to be as completely free as we could be.
At any rate, a short book would probably be best for this month. Maybe something Muggle, actually. I've always watching to read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I've heard rather good things about its whimsical storyline.
So I suppose... is anyone interested? If so, do you have a better book to suggest?
